Smith Butcher and Grill Room is located in the heart of the business district in Makati City. A family member recommended this restaurant to me and I'm glad they did! It is a relatively new restaurant reaching its 1st year mark last week. It has a beautiful and inviting interior and features an island bar towards the front of the restaurant which is visible as you walk in. It also has an open kitchen and a visible cool room with the meat they use on display. They serve steaks of a variety of cuts that has been sustainably sourced from 4 different continents.
I ordered the Smith Wedge salad as a starter and the U.S.A fillet mignon tenderloin (good for two) for the main which came with a choice of four complimentary sides. I selected the creamy mashed potato, caramelized onions, biodynamic mesculin garden salad and grilled seasonal vegetables.

The Smith Wedge Salad consisted of chilled iceberg and biodynamic mesculin, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers and an english blue cheese dressing. This salad was a great start to the meal and the serving was generous. It was very flavoursome and had a strong taste of blue cheese throughout.

The steak was a U.S.A Fillet mignon tenderloin cooked medium-well. It was cooked perfectly! It was well seasoned and was grilled over native wood and charcoal which added to the flavour. I selected the black truffle sauce and a green peppercorn sauce which complimented the meat well - the black truffle sauce was my favourite. The sides that came with the dish were also delicious and well cooked.
For dessert I had the Belgian white chocolate macadamia cheese cake and menage a trois chocolate mousse. The cheesecake was dense and tasted so good I wish I had ordered two. The chocolate mousse was a combination of white, milk and dark chocolate mousse with wild strawberries. The mousse had a nice soft texture and had a mild sweetness due to the dark chocolate.
Overall I enjoyed my time at the Smith Butcher and Grill Room. The service was great! The waitress serving me was very knowledgeable of the menu and when I asked for a wine to match the steak I ordered she brought over the bar manager assist me further. The food was amazing! The photos I took don't do the dishes justice. I will definately dine here again and look forward trying more of their meats!
