Italianni's Restaurant Review- Greenbelt 2

Italianni's is a popular Italian themed restaurant chain here in the Philippines. Being a lover of Italian food I had to try it out! Below is a description of the dishes I ordered.

Ceasar Salad - Lacked ingredients. It would have been nice to have some anchovies, bacon bits and chicken thrown in there. What was served was basically lettuce, croutons, a creamy garlic dressing topped with a bit of parmesan cheese. The flavour was great which is expected for a house specialty however I felt like it was missing something. I did have the option of paying extra for chicken and other ingredients to be added. It would have been a hit if it came with a few more ingredients, perhaps some boiled egg or crispy bacon pieces.

Quattro Carne - This pizza was tasty, topped with pepperoni, bacon, Italian sausage, parma ham, mozarella and asiago cheese. It was just strange that the meat was separated rather than being mixed all over the pizza making each slice consistent. If you were to share the pizza you would be limited to eating a cheese pizza with only one type of meat. The point of ordering a meat pizza is to have a variety of meats on your pizza to enjoy right?

Fettucine Beef Ragu - This dish was true to it's name and was a combination of fettuccine pasta mixed with Beef Ragu. Ragu is a sauce of braised or stewed meat that is usually flavored with tomato. The dish overall tasted good but was nothing special. I may have had high hopes for this dish and was expecting shredded beef rather than diced beef cubes.

Fettuccine Carbonara - The Fettuccine was under-cooked and inedible. The manager offered to have the dish re-cooked however offered spaghetti instead of fettuccine as fettuccine takes longer to cook. The sauce tasted nice and the pasta was served with button mushrooms and smoked bacon pieces. It tasted a lot better the second time around.

Lasagne - The lasagne consisted of mince meat ragout, cream sauce, lasagne sheets and mozarella cheese. It was bland and tasteless. The cheese around the pasta had become hard and was stuck on the bowl. I had lasagne for lunch at the Coffee Bean the following day and was surprised with presentation and the taste of it. It tasted and looked much better than the italianni's lasagne.

As a person that loves Italian food from risottos to pastas I really did look forward to eating here. Since writing this review I have been to Italianni's twice and both times were disappointing. Despite my previous experiences I may come back to try their other dishes (as I love Italian food) however If you are looking for an authentic Italian restaurant I recommend dining elsewhere. If you have any recommendations for great Italian food in Manila please let me know!
